Canada is the sixth-ranked country in CONCACAF in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings. Canada stuck to 412 points in the September 2008 ranking, the same total it had one month ago. Mexico (807) and USA (788), meanwhile, are still the top-two ranked countries in the confederation.

The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings looks at each country’s international results from the last four years. The ranking takes into account the result, the importance of the match, the strength of the opponent, the regional strength, the time period, and the number of matches per year.

The most notable change in the standings was Mexico’s reascension to the top spot, surpassing USA. Also within the top-10, Canada dropped from 5th to 6th, Trinidad & Tobago jumped from 8th to 5th, and Cuba dropped from 6th to 8th.

Canada is currently playing six matches against three teams in Stage III of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ Qualifiers. Three of those matches are in Canada: 20 August against Jamaica in Toronto (a 1:1 draw), 6 September against Honduras in Montréal (admission.com or 514.790.1245) and 15 October against Mexico in Edmonton (Ticketmaster.ca / 780.451.8000).
