Canada qualified for the Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship with a 9:1 win over El Salvador on Saturday. Florianna Jourde opened the scoresheet for Canada while Canadian player of the match Olivia Smith along with Annabelle Chukwu, Amanda Allen and Kayla Briggs each scored twice.

\u200b“We had a great camp from start to finish and grew through every game so now we’re looking at this next stage,” said Cindy Tye, Canada Soccer’s Women’s U-20 Coach. “With more than three weeks before the Concacaf Under-20 Championship, we just have to keep preparing and training. The level is going to be different but today this team showed resilience and adaptability which is exactly what we’ll need to be ready for the next phase.”

\u200bThe 2023 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship will take place in May in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Canada has lifted the trophy twice with a total of 10 appearances in the competition. The top three nations from the tournament will qualify for the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
