Canada scored a last-minute goal to come away with a 2:2 draw at home on Wednesday 1 June. The Men’s International Friendly match was Canada’s last test before the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup which opens next Tuesday 7 June in Detroit. Canada’s 2:2 draw with Ecuador was played in front of 14,356 fans at BMO Field in Toronto.
Tosaint Ricketts was the late goal hero in added time after Canada took a quick free kick to the surprise of the Ecuador players.
Both Ricketts and Terry Dunfield scored their first international goals in the match. Canada had a 1-0 goal lead before Ecuador scored back-to-back goals in the second half. Ricketts then scored the equaliser in the 93rd minute.
Canada is off to the CONCACAF Gold Cup this weekend after a few more days of training of Alliston, ON. The team trains Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Alliston before flying to Detroit on Sunday night.
