Canada’s women’s national head coach Carolina Morace has completed her on-field preparations before Sunday afternoon’s clash with USA. The match kicks off at 15.00 ET at Marina Auto Stadium in Rochester, NY (live broadcast on ESPN).

“I am happy to have the opportunity to play against one of the most important teams in the world,” said coach Morace. “I am pleased to see that our players are making progress with their fitness from the last time we gathered as a group in May.”

Canada completed its final training session Saturday afternoon in Rochester. All 24 players in camp participated in the brisk 90-minute session that focused on individual quickness as well as team movement and passing.

“Today in training we worked to resolve some of the problems we faced during the match in Toronto,” said Morace. “We have improved in training and hopefully the match will reflect this (improvement).”

The match will be the 46th meeting between the two old rivals. While the neighbouring countries enjoy a healthy friendship off the field, including players who play together with their respective club teams, both agree that when the two teams step on the field the only focus is the national pride that is on the line.

Sunday’s match will be the first of two the countries will play this week. The two matches will close out a three-game series that started with the 25 May match in Toronto. The final match will be played this Wednesday 22 July at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, SC. The 22 July match will be broadcast in live Canada on all four Rogers Sportsnet channels.
