Canada’s women’s national team will open its doors to training this Friday and Saturday 24-25 September at Nottawasaga Inn & Resort. Fans are welcome to watch the training session, beginning with the Friday 10.00 and 16.00 sessions. Training is closed on Sunday and there will be no training session on Monday.
Canada is preparing for next Thursday’s Women’s International Friendly match in Toronto, ON. Canada hosts China PR, with a 19.30 kickoff at BMO Field. Tickets are available now via Ticketmaster (416.872.5000 / Ticketmaster.ca), the BMO Field box office, and the Ontario Soccer Association (group sales).
Coach Carolina Morace has 22 players in camp at the moment. Release from camp was Danya Barsalona, a 22-year old forward from Stoney Creek, ON. Also missing from camp are Christine Sinclair, Candace Chapman and Karina LeBlanc, all of whom have been training with their clubs during the Women’s Professional Soccer playoffs in USA. All three will remain with their clubs through to this Sunday’s WPS Championship between FC Gold Pride (Sinclair and Chapman) and Philadelphia Independence (LeBlanc) at 14.30 ET / 11.30 PT.
Canada, whose title sponsor is Winners and presenting sponsor is Teck, is currently preparing for the 2010 CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifier. The continental championship runs 28 October to 8 November in Mexico. Canada has qualified for each of the last four FIFA Women’s World Cups since 1995 and hopes to make it five in a row with next year’s championship in Germany.
