Canada won big in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers on Friday night, opening a four-point lead in Group C standings of CONCACAF Stage II for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. Canada won 7:0 to officially eliminate St. Lucia from the competition, while St. Kitts and Nevis fell further behind in second place following an away 1:1 draw with Puerto Rico.
Canada is perfect with nine points in three matches, while St. Kitts and Nevis has five points and Puerto Rico has just two. On Tuesday 11 October, Canada will host Puerto Rico at BMO Field in Toronto while St. Kitts and Nevis will host St. Lucia.
Canada’s 7:0 victory on 7 October 2011 was the biggest in team history. Canada’s previous high in a FIFA World Cup Qualifiers match was 5:1 over USA (way) back on 22 June 1957 – Canada’s first-ever official FIFA match.
