After a1:1draw at BMO Field in Toronto, Canada and Jamaica are tied in second place in CONCACAF Group 2 on the road to the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. Each team picked up a single point in the 20 August match.

Mexico, meanwhile, is in first place with three points after a 2:1 victory over Honduras at the Estadio Azteca. Honduras was up 1-0 before Pavel Pardo scored a pair of goals in two minutes.

Canada (0-1-0) will face Honduras (0-0-1) in its next match on 6 September at Stade Saputo in Montréal. Mexico (1-0-0) will face Jamaica (0-1-0) in Kingston, Jamaica on the same evening.

Honduras reached CONCACAF Stage III by eliminating Puerto Rico (4:0 win and 2:2 draw). Canada, of course, reached CONCACAF Stage III after back-to-back wins over Saint Vincent & the Grenadines in June (3:0 and 4:1).

CONCACAF Stage III of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ Qualifiers runs 20 August to 19 November. The top-two teams in each group (three groups) advance to the CONCACAF final stage in 2009. In 2009, the top-three teams automatically advance to South Africa 2010 while the fourth-place team faces the CONMEBOL (South America) fifth place team in a playoff for yet another potential spot at 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™.
