    "body": "<p>Canada has finished second at the annual Cyprus Women&rsquo;s Cup in Cyprus. The Canadians reached the final for the fifth consecutive time, but <a href=\"https://canadasoccer.com/match-report-canada-wnt-falls-to-france-p149531\">lost 0:2 to France</a> in the 6 March 2012 championship final. In all, Canada posted three wins and one loss in four matches played in Larnaka and Nicosia.</p><p>The loss to France also ended an 11-game win streak at the Cyprus Women&rsquo;s Cup. In the five years since the tournament&rsquo;s inception, Canada has won it three times and finished runner up twice.</p><p><em>Match Highlights: Canada 0 -2 France, 2012 Cyprus Cup Final</em></p><p>Canada posted wins against Scotland (5:1 on 28 February), Italy (2:1 on 1 March) and Netherlands (1:0 on 4 March) in the lead up to the final. France had also won its three matches in group play to reach the final.</p><p>In other classification matches on 6 March: Italy won third place with a 3:1 victory over England; Korea Republic finished fifth by winning 8-7 on kicks from the penalty mark following a 1:1 draw with Finland; Netherlands finished seventh by winning 4-2 on kicks from the penalty mark following a 2:2 draw with New Zealand; Scotland finished ninth after a 2:0 win over South Africa; and Switzerland finished 11th following a 5:0 win over Northern Ireland.</p><p><em>Cyprus Cup 2012: Canada 0 &ndash; 2 France, Herdman Reaction</em></p><p>Canada was one of five Olympic teams that participated in the <a href=\"https://canadasoccer.com/canada-to-defend-cyprus-women-s-cup-title-p149419\">fifth edition of the Cyprus Women&rsquo;s Cup</a> from 28 February to 6 March.
