Canada’s women’s national team will advance to the bronze medal game at the XV Pan American Games Rio 2007 on Thursday 26 July. The Canucks lost their semi-final match 1:2 to the United States tonight in Brasil.



American captain Lauren Cheney scored both goals, the opener in the 17th minute and the winner in the 77th minute. Canada’s Kara Lang scored for Canada in the 88th minute.



Canada will now face Mexico in the bronze medal match at 9.00 on 26 July. Mexico lost 0:2 to hosts Brasil today in the other semifinal match. Brasil will face the United States in the gold-medal match.
