Ottawa, Ontario – Canada’s Women’s World Cup Team today defeated France 2-0 in Angoulème, France during their second match of the Tournoi international de France. Proving to be a physical game, Canada received three cautions and a red card. Ejected from the game was Breanna Boyd in the 82nd minute.



Scoring for Canada early in the first half Kara Lang. Lang opened the scoring in the 11th minute, giving her a total of five career goals. Tallying another for Canada and securing the 2-0 win was Andrea Neil. Neil, a veteran of the team, scored Canada’s second goal in the 30th minute.



“To beat France is a tremendous confidence builder for us, knowing that we started the game missing some key players,” said head coach Even Pellerud. “The players executed the team tactics with outstanding discipline.”



Canada’s next game is against Japan on Tuesday, April 9 at 17:00 local time.
