The Chinese Football Association hosted Canada’s women’s national team at a special reception in advance of Saturday’s international soccer friendly match in Yongchuan District, Chingqong. Players and staff from both national teams were in attendance for the 90-minute dinner and entertainment at the Jianchong International Hotel.

The event featured a fine selection of authentic Chinese cuisine. The dinner was preceded by entertainment by local musicians and dancers. In attendance, along with the two national teams, were members of the Chinese Football Association, the local organising committee, the regional sports bureau, and the local business community. Canada’s head of delegation Mike Traficante and national head coach Carolina Morace were both welcomed at the head table.

Canada, whose title sponsor is Winners and presenting sponsor Teck, is currently preparing for the 2010 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup, the qualification phase for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011. While the championship schedule has yet to be announced, it is tentatively scheduled for late October and early November. Canada will announce the rest of its 2010 schedule on 11 May in Vancouver.
