Canada arrives in Charleston

After an early morning departure, Canada’s women’s national team arrived in Charleston, SC this afternoon ahead of their Wednesday night clash with the USA at Blackbaud Stadium. Canada is coming off an 0:1 loss to the Americans Sunday afternoon in Rochester, NY. Wednesday night’s Canada-USA match kicks off at 20.00 ET / 17.00 PT and will be broadcast by Rogers Sportsnet (all four channels).

​The Canadians will be looking to build on their improved performance Sunday in Rochester. “Going into the next match we want to try other players as this is the occasion for trying new players,” said national coach Carolina Morace. “At the same time, I do not want to lose the balance in the team.”

​The two Canada-USA matches played this week will close out a three-game series that started with a 25 May match in Toronto. USA also won that match by a score of 4:0. Under coach Morace, Canada has a 2-1-3 record, including a second-place finish at the Cyprus Women’s Cup in March.

​Canada will face significantly different conditions in Charleston compared to Rochester as the heat and humidity will play a factor in Wednesday night’s match. Coach Morace will put Canada through two training sessions, Monday evening and Tuesday evening, ahead of Wednesday’s match.
