Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian Women’s Under-19 head coach and World Cup Team assistant coach Ian Bridge will be inducted into the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame at an annual ceremony and dinner on Saturday, November 1st, 2003.

As a defender, Bridge played in 33 full international games for Canada including the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. He also played for the 1984 Canadian Olympic team which reached the quarter-finals before losing to Brazil, as well as the Seattle Sounders and Vancouver Whitecaps of the North American Soccer League (NASL).

“Victoria has a wonderful sports history and sports tradition,” said Bridge. “To grow up here, and play sports here you learn this.”

“To now be included with some of the great names and personalities in Victoria and Canadian sport is a tremendous honour.”

The Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame has honoured more than 100 inductees. Worthy individuals and teams are nominated by a committee of the Board, which then votes with a three quarters approval required for induction.
