Baquero, Houmphanh named Most Valuable Players

Andy Baquero of 9 de Octubre FC Toronto and Jade Houmphanh of Saskatoon Green & White were named the Most Valuable Players of the 2024 Futsal Canadian Championship in Calgary, Alberta. Baquero led 9 de Octubre win their second-straight national men’s amateur title while Houmphanh helped Saskatoon Green & White become the first club outside of Ontario and Québec to win Canada Soccer's Futsal Canadian Championship.

Baquero led his team with eight goals and five assists in four matches as 9 de Octubre went undefeated for the second year in a row, this time with victories over Nunavut, Saskatoon Olimpia SK FC, Winnipeg Pioneers FC, and Sporting Montréal FC. Baquero scored two goals in the Final over Montréal on Sunday.

Houmphanh was the key star for Saskatoon Green & White as they won three matches in a row against United Dartmouth FC, Native Indian FA Pacific FC, and Winnipeg Legacy FC. She was Saskatoon's Player of the Match in the Final against Winnipeg, a 7-1 victory on the last day of the competition.
