As Head Coach Casey Stoney continues to build toward 2026 Concacaf W Qualifiers in November, here are four storylines to watch during the June window.

1. European Champions Bring Winning Momentum

Several Canadians arrive in camp following successful club seasons in Europe. Vanessa Gilles helped FC Bayern Munich win the Frauen-Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal Frauen and DFB-Supercup Frauen titles, while Ashley Lawrence lifted the Coupe de France Féminine and Coupe de la Ligue Féminine with OL Lyonnes. Evelyne Viens also had a successful season with AS Roma, winning both the Serie A Femminile and Coppa Italia Femminile. Their experience competing for clubs in top domestic and continental competitions adds depth to Canada’s squad as the team continues its preparations for upcoming competitions.

2. Roster Notes

Defender Élisabeth Tsé has earned her first senior national team call-up after progressing through Canada’s youth national team pathway. A former FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup participant, Tsé will have an opportunity to showcase her abilities at the senior level as Canada continues to expand its player pool ahead of major competitions.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jordyn Listro is back in the National Team environment for the first time since June 2021. Her return adds experience and competition to the midfield as Stoney continues evaluating options and building depth throughout the squad.

3. A Familiar Rival, A Valuable Test

Canada will face Costa Rica for the 19th time, carrying a perfect 18-0-0 record into the match. The two sides most recently met in June 2025, when Canada earned a 4-1 victory in Toronto in Casey Stoney’s first match as head coach. Despite Canada’s strong record, away matches in Concacaf provide a different challenge and another opportunity to test the group against regional opposition.

4. Building Toward Qualification

Although there is only one match on the schedule, the June window offers valuable time together on the training pitch. With the 2026 Concacaf W Championship approaching in November — serving as qualification for both the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027™ and the LA 2028 Olympic Games—every camp remains an important step in Canada's preparation. This window will give CANWNT another opportunity to strengthen their position for future selection while helping the group continue to build chemistry and consistency under Casey Stoney.

",
